Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, conferring Nobel prize to Rabindranath, the Nobel committee must had felt honored, as Rabindranath’s creation including poetry & literature was much larger than the prize itself.

On the second day of his West Bengal visit, in Shantiniketan, Mr Shah told this in a press conference after holding a meeting with the Vice Chancellor of Viswabharti University.

During his visit in Shantiniketan Ashram he said, the poet was also an inspiration to country’s two great leaders Mahatma Gandhi and Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and added that he was very fortunate to visit this great institution, which was founded by the poet. Amit Shah today paid floral tributes to poet Rabindranath Tagore at Rabindra Bhavan on the campus of Viswa-Bharati University in Birbhum district of West Bengal. Shah also visited the Upasana Griha (prayer house) and Sangeet Bhavan, where students of the university rendered Rabindra Sangeet in a cultural programme. During his visit to the Bangladesh Bhawan of Visva Bharati University, Shantiniketan, he said that Rabindranath was the only person in the world, whose creation, two songs were taken as national anthem in two countries, India & Bangladesh. He is still very relevant, said Mr Shah.

Later, Amit Shah had lunch at Basudeb Baul’s house in Ratan Palli, poured milk on Shiva’s head at his Shiva temple, performed Chapan Pujo, then listened to a Baul song. He worshiped at Hanuman Temple in Dakbangla ground. He will take part in the road show after puja.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has assured that if the BJP comes to power in West Bengal, it will build a golden Bengal within five years. Taking part in a road show in Bolpur today, he said, he has participated in many road shows before but he has never seen such a road show before. He thanked the people of the state for the spontaneous response to today’s road show.

The Home Minister said that the decision of the people of the state to remove the corrupt Trinamool Congress government was reflected in the road show. The roadshow started from Hanuman Mandir Stadium Road and ended at Bolpur Crossroads in Birbhum district of West Bengal.
