In a major breakthrough, the Jalandhar Police today busted an international network of heroine smugglers with the arrest of two persons along with drug worth 5 crore rupees. Commissioner of Police Praveen Kumar Sinha, Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajinder Singh and Assistant Inspector General of Special Task Force Mukhwinder Singh Bhullar said that in a joint operation the STF and district Police nabbed two international heroine smugglers Sohan Singh of Jalandhar and Rajkumar alias Raja of Ludhiana with 500 grams of heroine each.
Mr. Sinha said that on a tip off, the STF and Police party of Division number 7 led by Inspector Vijay Kanwar Pal arrested both Sohan Singh and Rajkumar during checking at Punjab Avenue Cantt Road Subhana. Mr. Sinha further said that during investigation both the accused revealed that they used to get the supply of heroine from across the border from a Pakistani resident Naeem, who is now living in England, through Makhan Singh and Chand Singh resident of village Gulabe Di Bhaini in Fazilka district, who own their land across the fence.
The CP said that Makhan Singh and Chand Singh used to get the consignment of drug from Pakistan after which they supplied it to Sohan Singh and Rajkumar, who used to supply it further to the rest of the country at high rates.
He said that both the accused had got the current consignment of heroine around 3-4 days back from Makhan Singh and Chand Singh adding that Police arrested both of them while they were trying to sell the drug in the state.
