Renowned scholar, author, and former Dean of Social Sciences at Jamia Millia Islamia, Professor Z.M. Khan, has been conferred with the IOS Lifetime Achievement Award by the Institute of Objective Studies (IOS) in a grand ceremony held in New Delhi. The award included a citation, a memento, and a cash prize of ₹1 lakh.
Professor Khan, who also served as the former Secretary-General of IOS for over 23 years, has made outstanding contributions in the fields of education, research, and social service over a career spanning five decades. Under his leadership, IOS evolved from a small research initiative into a nationally respected think tank. He also played a key role in launching the IOS Scholarship Programme.
Established in 2007, the IOS Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes individuals and organizations that have made exceptional contributions to society irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. Past recipients include former Chief Justice of India A.M. Ahmadi, Dr. A.R. Kidwai, and Prof. Akhtarul Wasey.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Khan expressed gratitude, saying that “faith in God and the spirit of service are life’s greatest rewards.” The event was presided over by Prof. Afzal Wani, with Justice Zakiullah Khan as the chief guest, and attended by several distinguished academicians and dignitaries.
