AMN / MUMBAI

Amid tussle between the BJP and Shiv Sena over government formation in Maharashtra, senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar on Friday said, if the government is not formed in the stipulated time period, then the state will have to be subjected to the President’s rule.

The tenure of the existing Legislative Assembly ends on November 8. Mr Mungantiwar said, both Shivsena and BJP candidates fought the recent State Assembly elections under a common banner of Mahayuti, hence, the new Chief Minister will also be from the alliance.

Speaking to reporters in Nashik, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar said that his party will not lend support to Shivsena. No political discussions took place between him and Sanjay Raut, he said, adding that both Shivsena and BJP are exhausting each other in the process of government formation. He further advised that they should stop the child’s play.

Meanwhile, Pawar’s party man and Mumbai NCP Chief Nawab Malik said that the Shivsena-BJP have got the mandate to form the government and if they are not able to form the government then NCP will make an attempt to form the government.

On the other hand, senior Congress leaders including Maharashtra Congress Unit Chief Balasaheb Thorat, Prithviraj Chavan, Ashok Chavan among others met Congress President Sonia Gandhi in Delhi today and discussed in detail over the performance of the party in Assembly elections and also about the prevailing situation in Maharashtra.
