A precautionary dose against Covid-19 is being administered to the healthcare and frontline workers from today in West Bengal. Citizens over 60 years of age with comorbidities will also get the dose. According to the state health department, on the first day, nearly 2 lakh people will be given the jab. Overall, nearly 40 lakh personnel will be administered with the booster dose. Among them, 22 lakh are above the age of 60 years with comorbidities while nearly 11 lakh are frontline workers and over 7 lakh are healthcare personnel.
In Kolkata, the precaution shot is being administered from all the urban primary health centres under the Kolkata Municipal Corporation. The eligible people, who have received their second dose nine months ago, are required to book the slot on the KMC portal or walk into the CVCs for getting the jab.
