Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated and laid the foundation stone of multiple development projects for Delhi. He inaugurated around 1700 newly constructed flats for the dwellers of JJ clusters and handed over keys to eligible beneficiaries in Ashok Vihar, in the national capital.

Mr Modi also interacted with beneficiaries of flats and inspected the newly allotted flats. The inauguration of newly constructed flats will mark the completion of the second successful In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project by the Delhi Development Authority. The project is aimed at providing the residents of the JJ clusters with a better and healthier living environment equipped with proper amenities and facilities.

On the occasion, Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated two urban redevelopment projects: the World Trade Centre at Nauroji Nagar and the General Pool Residential Accommodation (GPRA) Type-II Quarters at Sarojini Nagar. The World Trade Centre has transformed the area by replacing over 600 dilapidated quarters with state-of-the-art commercial towers, offering around 34 lakh square feet of premium commercial space with advanced amenities. The project incorporates green building practices, with provisions such as a zero-discharge concept, solar energy generation, and rainwater harvesting systems. The GPRA Quarters include 28 towers that house over two thousand five hundred residential units, offering modern amenities and efficient use of space.

Besides, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Central Board of Secondary Education’s Integrated Office Complex at Dwarka, built at around 300 crore rupees. It includes offices, an auditorium, an advanced data centre, and a comprehensive water management system, among others. The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of three new projects at Delhi University worth over 600 crore rupees. He laid the foundation of an academic block in the Eastern Campus at Surajmal Vihar in East Delhi and an academic block in the Western Campus at Dwarka. Mr Modi also laid the foundation stone of Veer Savarkar College at Roshanpura, Najafgarh.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Modi said that 2025 will be the year to strengthen India’s position in the world, adding that the country has become a symbol of political and economic stability. He highlighted that this year will be the year of making India one of the biggest manufacturing centres in the world. He noted that the new year brings immense possibilities for the country, and in the year 2025, the journey to become the world’s third-largest economy will gain momentum. He also said the central government has started a campaign to build permanent houses in place of slums.

Hitting out at the ruling AAP government in Delhi, Mr Modi said it has failed to provide proper water and sewer facilities in colonies. He said it is unfortunate that it is not implementing the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana. The Prime Minister said the Delhi government has caused much damage to education in the last 10 years, and it has failed to spend even half of the Samagra Shiksha funds given by the Centre.
