Following the release of a latest American cable suggesting strong links between Pakistan’s spy agency ISI and the Haqqani Network, the United States has asked Islamabad to target all militant groups.
US State Department Spokesman John Kirby said, Washington has been consistently clear with the highest levels of the Government of Pakistan that it must target all militant groups, including the Haqqani Network, Al-Qaeda and Lashkar-e Toiba.
According to one of the cables, ISI paid a whopping two lakh dollars to the dreaded Haqqani Network for a suicide attack on a CIA camp in Afghanistan in 2009 that killed seven American agents and contractors and three others.
