Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said that opposition parties have assured her to extend cooperate in smooth functioning of the Lok Sabha. Briefing media after the meeting of floor leaders of the parties, Ms Mahajan said the meeting was good and constructive. In reply to a question, the Lok Sabha Speaker said, report of the Joint Committee of Parliament of Land Bill is expected to submit its report in the first week of next month.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also joined the leaders at lunch. Later, Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, Congress appears to have been isolated on its stand not to allow Parliament to function. Mr Rudy said, all the parties during the all party meeting as well as Speaker’s meeting were of the view that Parliament should function and the relevant issues should be discussed.
The meeting was attended by M Veerappa Moily of the Congress, P Karunakaran of the CPM, Tariq Anwar of the NCP and Dharemndra Yadav of the Samajwadi Party. Dushyant Chautala of the INLD Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party and Chandrakant Khare of Shiv Sena were also present.
