AMN —
Ex-servicemen from across the country today began agitation demanding implementation of one-rank-one-pension, OROP scheme. Hundreds of ex-servicemen are gathering at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi to press for their demands. The agitation will be followed by a relay hunger strike tomorrow.
Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement, an umbrella organization of retired military personnel, earlier this month had announced to launch a public agitation and resort to hunger strike against the government’s failure to announce a date for the implementation of OROP. Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme on All India Radio had assured ex-servicemen that his government would soon resolve the OROP issue.
