A large number of devotees continued to pour in today at the holy town Puri to witness the world famous chariot festival of Lord Jagannath and his siblings.
The pulling of the three chariots of Lord Jagannath, his brother Balram and sister Subhadra were called off yesterday as the evening set in.
Presiding deities resumed their journey this morning and finally reached at the Gundicha Temple. Despite rain thousands of devotees were pulling the chariots with chanting Jai Jagannath in the grand road. The Taladhwaja Rath of Lord Balabhadra was pulled first followed by two others.
The deities will stay at Gundicha Temple before making the return journey or Bahuda Yatra on 3rd of next month. Devotees from all walks of life have been making a beeline to the town since Saturday for the world famous annual festival of chariots to catch a glimpse of the presiding deities of the 12th century shrine of Sri Jagannath.
Meanwhile, preparations have reached the final stage for the celebration of the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings in Baripada today.
