RioNagaland Governor PB Acharya has appointed Neiphiu Rio as the Chief Minister of the state. The Governor stated that he has received letters of support in favour of Rio from MLAs of BJP, JD (U) and an Independent besides NDPP legislators.

Union Minister J. P. Nadda, National BJP General Secretary Arun Singh and BJP North East General Secretary, Ajay Jamwal along with newly-elected state BJP legislators submitted a letter of support to Governor PB Acharya this morning for the formation of NDPP-BJP alliance under the new banner People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA).

Meanwhile, two newly elected NPP MLAs have joined the NDPP-BJP alliance. The alliance has now a total strength of 33 legislators.

The Governor has proposed to administer the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Council of Ministers on 8th March at 11:30 am at Local Ground, Kohima.

The Governor has also requested Mr. Rio to prove his majority on the floor of the House on or before 16th of this month.

The Governor of Nagaland, PB Acharya has accepted the resignation submitted by Chief Minister TR Zeliang today.

However, Mr. Zeliang has been requested by the Governor to continue in office till an alternative arrangement is made.Lucy, Reporting From AIR, Kohima.
