In a massive crackdown against Naxals in Jharkhand, 10 Maoists, including one Sunil Manjhi, who had reward of Rs. 25 lakhs on his head, are arrested from Abkitand near Dimri Peertand in Giridih district.
Arrested also includes, two so-called zonal sub- commanders, who were carrying reward of Rs. five lakhs each on them. One woman Naxal is also among the arrested.
Large quantities of arms, ammunition and explosive have been recovered from them.
CRPF Inspector General Sanjay Anand said that all the recovered weapons, ammunition, wireless sets, etc are sealed and search operation is continuing.
The arrest were made during a joint combing operation of state police and CRPF. The arrested naxals belong to Bihar-Jharkhand Regional Committee.
In another development, a Naxal who had Rs. ten lakh on his head, Upendra Singh Kharwar, surrendered in Latehar on Monday.
He was given a cheque of Rs. ten lakh by the police. DIG Vipul Shukla asked Naxals to take advantage of liberal surrender and rehabilitation policy of the state government.
