Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh, accompanied by Shivpal Yadav and Amar Singh have reached the Election Commission in New Delhi to stake claim on the party’s symbol, cycle.
Akhilesh Yadav faction of the Party had on Saturday approached the Commission staking claim over the symbol. The poll body had sought response from both factions by today over the claims of symbol and name of the party.
Akhilesh Yadav has also requested Election Commission to give them time this afternoon to present their cliam. Even as Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav claims to be the new party chief, Mulayam Singh has asserted that he is still the party’s national president.
Yesterday, he said, the national convention called by Ramgopal Yadav on 1st of this month where Akhilesh Yadav was made the party chief, was unconstitutional.
