Maoists killed one person and released others held hostage by them in Sukma district in Chhattisgarh, yesterday. The rebels held a Jan Adalat in Munga forests yesterday. They killed one villager identified as Sadaram who used to coordinate the construction activities of a bridge. However, they released other villagers abducted by them from Marenga and adjoining villages of Sukma district on Friday night.
Maoists were opposing the construction of a bridge on a local river near Marenga village and were apparently angered over the villagers’ support to the development work following which rebels abducted around 250 villagers.
