Maharashtra reported 40,925 new Covid-19 cases. The highest number of 20,971 cases were reported from the capital city Mumbai. According to the state health department, 20 patients succumbed to the infection in a day across the state while 14,256 patients were discharged, the active cases in the state rose to 1,41,492. Additional Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Suresh Kakani said that although the number of Covid patients in Mumbai has been increasing at present, 90% of the patients are asymptomatic.
