man ki baatPrime Minister Narendra Modi today said that the Land Acquisition Ordinance will be allowed to lapse. He said that the government would not re promulgate the Land ordinance.

He said that lot of confusion and fear was created among farmers by a section of people. In his address on the eleventh edition of Mann ki Baat on All India Radio today , the Prime Minister assured the farmers that Jai Jawan Jai Kisan was not only a slogan but a mantra for the government. He reiterated that farmers have nothing to afraid of.

During his about twenty minute address, Prime Minister also said that government has moved forward in the direction to create a department for agriculture and farmers development as announced in the Independence Day speech.

Highlighting the various programmes of financial inclusion launched by the present government, Mr Modi said over 11 crore families have joined in the social security schemes. Expressing happiness over the success of the Jan Dhan Yojana, the Prime Minister said , nearly 17 crore 74 lakh bank accounts have been opened and 22 thousand crore rupees was deposited within one year of this scheme. He urged them not to discontinue their saving bank accounts in the banks.

Expressing concerns over the recent violence on reservation issue in Gujarat, he said it was painful. But, within a short span of time, people of Gujarat controlled the situation. Mr Modi said development is the panacea of all ills and peace, unity and brotherhood will lead to growth path.

Recalling his meetings with some sufi scholars recently, he said kindness, humility are the tenets of sufism and it should be spread among people.

He said government is moving forward to do away with the practice of holding interviews for recruitment at junior level to remove corruption. Mr Modi also paid his tributes to the 1965 martyrs and war veterans.

The Prime Minister lauded the efforts of the Maharashtra government for acquiring 10 King Henry Road in London to set up a memorial where Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar lived.

Prime Minister complimented Mahajan brothers from Nashik for winning a cycle race in US. He said cycling is not only good for health but also it is environment friendly.
