Normal flight operations began at the Karipur airport, near Kozhikode (Calicut) after closing for about ten hours due to clash between the CISF personnel and Airport authority employees last night. The state police have taken 15 people, including officers, into custody in connection with the firing at the airport in which one CISF jawan was killed and three others were injured .
The police also registered a case into the firing incident. A scuffle broke out between the CISF personnel and fire force department officials of Airport Authority of India (AAI) over the issue of frisking . In the ensuing melee a CISF jawan S.S. Yadav received gunshot injuries and was killed.
State Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala said that the investigation is in the right track and the police will submit its report shortly. The jawan’s body would be send to his home town at Uthar Pradesh after post-mortem later today. Meanwhile CISF IG Mr R R Sahai and southern Region DIG Mr Anand Mohan reached at the airport for further investigations.
