NEW DELHI: Congress General Secretary and former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh Digvijay Singh has raised doubt over the WikiLeaks’ revelation that the Lashkar-e-Taiba had allegedly planned to attack Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi. He said, “The Sangh Parivar has mastery in propaganda, so it might be a handiwork of any Sangh sympathizer as the whistleblower website has released thousand of cables.

Speaking at a function organized to release Rashtriya Sahara (Urdu) Editor Aziz Burney’s book “RSS kee Sazish – 26/11?”, Singh also said that Hemanat Karkare spoke to him before he was killed. “Karkare spoke to me in around 7 PM on 26/11. He was very disturbed. He said he never saw such a situation in his life. He told me that his parents and relatives were threatened”, recalled Singh

He said one should get to bottom of truth by culling all the diplomatic cables. To buttress his point, he said Mr L K Advani had recruited many RSS men and sympathizers in the media when he was Information Minister in the Janata government.

Coming down heavily on the RSS, he said its members and sympathizers have infiltrated, in every organ of the government and political parties. He  pointed out that only 4-5 officers went to the US to interrogate David Headley and there was an agreement with the FBI that no details would be divulged of Headley’s confession. But it was leaked to media that “Headley confessed that Ishrat Jahan was the member of LeT”.

The revelation was meant to influence the Ishart case being heard in the Gujarat High Court who was killed in an alleged encounter by the Gujarat police. The congress leader said it might be leaked by one officer or the other as only 4 to 5 officers knew about the details of Headley confession. Calling upon the nation to be vigilant about the activities of the RSS, he stressed the need of purging such elements from the government apparatus.

On recent arrest of RSS activists in the several bomb blast cases, he said he knew the RSS from the much closed quarters and its modus oprendi. Even it runs coaching and training classes for the civil services aspirants, he added. For countering the nefarious and divisive ideology, he asked both Muslims and Hindus to be on alert and not to be swayed by emotions.

He particularly asked the Muslim community to present and propagate the true tenets of Islam before their Hindu brethrens. Citing an example, he said he came to know that the fatwa is not a judicial directive but a judicial interpretation and correct concept of Jihad is different for what is being prpagated.

Speaking on the occasion, Muslim scholar  Maulana Kalbe Jawwad said terrorism could no be rooted out by adopting double standards. “SIMI was banned without any evidence but RSS was let off despite having a plethora of evidence against it”.

Rashtriya Sahara (Urdu) Editor Aziz Burney whose book was released said that it is high time to save the country from terrorism and hatred. He also promised to get his book translated in different laguages. A host of speakers said Karkare was killed for daring to expose Hindutva groups.
