Even as the family of deceased journalist Jagendra Singh is continuing its sit-in protest for the second day today at Khutar in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh, Senior cabinet minister in the state government, Shivpal Singh Yadav said in Lucknow that an inquiry is going on and no action will be taken against the minister Ram Murti Verma till the inquiry is completed.
Referring to the incident as an unfortunate event, Mr. Yadav reiterated that minister cannot be removed without an inquiry and police is already investigating the case. However state police has said that facts are being collected and minister could also be questioned in this case.
Earlier, Congress leader Jitin Prasad visited Khutar today and met Jagendra’s father and other family members and demanded immediate arrest of Ram Murti Verma. Jagendra family feared that state police could not be impartial and demanded a CBI probe in the case.
Many political parties and organization have already demanded an impartial inquiry and arrest of the minster. Meanwhile, a wing of Congress party also organized a protest at the residence of Samajawadi Party National General Secretary Kunwar Revati Raman Singh in Allahabad today.
