In Jammu and Kashmir, operation of the security forces in Mendhar Tehsil of border district of Poonch to locate the hiding militants is still continuing. According to police sources, when acting on a tip off about the presence of some militants in the forests of Mankote area along the Line of Control yesterday, security forces launched a search operation, the hiding militants opened fire on them.
The troops retaliated the fire and intermittent exchange of fire lasted for few hours. No causality has been, so far, reported from either side. More troops have been rushed to the spot and the area has been cordoned off.
