Two time Lohardaga MLA and All Jharkhand Students Union, AJSU, leader Kamal Kishore Bhagat has been convicted in a 22 year old case by a local court yesterday. Another party leader A Bodra, was also convicted. They have been sentenced to seven years’ rigorous imprisonment. A fine of rupees 15,000/- were also imposed on them and sent to jail.
They were held guilty of trying to kill a doctor in Ranchi on September 28, 1993 after he refused to donate funds to AJSU party for a rally in Patna. With the court issuing sentence to the MLA, the House Member ship of Kamal Kishore Bhagat automatically cancelled. AJSU party spokesman Dr. Deo Sharan has said they will appeal in the higher court.
