JD(U) and Congress have demanded lodging of FIRs against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP Chief Amit Shah for their alleged casteist and religious remarks during poll campaign in Bihar. A delegation of party leaders met Chief Election Commissioner Nasim Zaidi in New Delhi today and submitted a memorandum in this regard.

Talking to media after the meeting, JD(U) leader K C Tyagi said during rallies in Nalanda and other places, Mr. Modi described himself as a backward class leader which is violation of Model Code of Conduct. He said similarly, at a public meeting in Raxaul yesterday, Amit Shah said there will be celebrations in Pakistan if BJP loses the polls, which amounted to polarizing the voters on religious lines. Mr. Tyagi said the grand alliance also urged the Commission to ban BJP Chief from further campaigning.

Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala said they raised the issue of recent BJP advertisement in Bihar newspapers alleging that RJD,JD(U) and Congress are giving shelter to terrorists. He said such advertisements are in violation of poll norms and the Commission should withdraw them and take action.
