Eurobank, in collaboration with NPCI International Payments Limited, has launched a UPI-based cross-border remittance service from Greece to India. Announcing the launch, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized that the service offers instant, secure transfers at a fraction of traditional costs. Alongside the launch, Goyal met with Eurobank CEO Fokion Karavias in Greece to discuss expanding bilateral economic ties, boosting Greek investments in India, and collaborating on infrastructure and manufacturing.

Why this matters:

  • Slash Costs: Transaction fees are plummeting to a fraction of conventional transfer rates.
  • Global Reach: Union Minister Piyush Goyal hailed the move as a major milestone for India’s digital payment ecosystem, reflecting global trust in tech-led, cross-border solutions.

Following the launch, Minister Goyal met with Eurobank CEO Fokion Karavias to pitch deeper economic ties, urging Greek businesses to tap into India’s growth while exploring joint ventures in manufacturing and infrastructure.
