External Affairs Minister S.M.Krishna took up the matter during his meeting with the Chief Minister of Punjab province of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif on Sunday.
External Affairs Minister S.M.Krishna retuned to New Delhi after two day official visit of Pakistan
In the meeting which lasted over two hours, Mr. Sharif said that terrorism is terrorism and there is no good or bad terrorism. He requested Mr. Krishna to provide more evidence against Hafiz Saeed to Pakistan government.
Mr. Sharif also said that his party stands by the statement related to Indo-Pak relations which was issued by his elder brother and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif who has welcomed cricketing ties, saying it would help normalising relations between the two countries.
Businessmen in large numbers also attended the meeting between Mr. Krishna and Mr. Sharif. They thanked both the governments for easing visa restrictions and said that Lahore will be benefited most by the decision.
Later, Mr. S M Krishna who visited Minar-e-Pakistan, wrote in the Vistitors’ Book that India would like to see a stable and prosperous Pakistan. External Affairs Minister said that India and Pakistan can and need to live respectfully and in peace as good neighbours.
He wrote that both the countries also need to work closely together to ensure a brighter future for their people. To this end, India remains committed to build a relationship of trust and mutually beneficial all round cooperation with Pakistan.
Earlier, Mr. Krishna also met the Punjab Governor and paid a visit to the shrine of Daata Ganj Bakhsh and the tomb of Maharaja Ranjeet Singh. Mr. Krishna paid a day long visit to Lahore in the last leg of his three day tour to Pakistan. He told Pakistani journalists at the Allama Iqbal Airport that his visit was fruitful as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and people of India want peaceful relationship with Pakistan. He said, peaceful relationship between India and Pakistan, would be helpful for the prosperity of the region.
