The Maharashtra Government has decided to challenge in the Supreme Court the High Court verdict acquitting Actor Salman Khan of all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case.
Government Pleader Abhinandan Vagyani said SLP in the Supreme Court will be filed in due course.
Justice A R Joshi had, on 10th of this month, acquitted Salman of all charges on the ground that the prosecution had failed to prove that the actor was driving the car under the influence of liquor.
In May this year, a sessions court had sentenced the actor to five years jail after it held him guilty of offences including culpable homicide not amount to murder. Salman was charged of ramming his car, on September 28, 2002, into a bakery in suburban Bandra, killing one person and injuring four others who were sleeping outside.
