Gujarat High Court today ordered a CID probe into the custodial death of a Patel youth detained from Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad on 25th of this month.
The youth was picked up by the police following clashes with a police in connection with Patidar Maha rally on reservation issue. According to postmortem reports, the youth Shwetang Patel’s death took place due to a head injury.
The court also ordered Bapunagar police station to record an FIR into the custodial killing of the youth.
High Court ordered that CID crime should investigate the case and an officer outside the Bapunagar police station jurisdiction has been asked to conduct an inquiry.
A Magisterial inquiry has also been ordered by the court. Earlier, court had ordered second postmortem of the youth yesterday after the complaint of custodial death by the family members.
Violence had sparked off in many parts the state since Tuesday night after police action on rally demanding reservation for Patel community.
