These training would help rural youth to get jobs in Apparel, Construction, Computer based accounting, Security services, Retail and other sectors.
Ministry of Rural Development’s scheme of Special Projects under Swarnajayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana (SGSY) now restructured as National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM), has approved 14 projects for skill training. The training would make placement of rural BPL youth in urban settings easy.
Out of Rs. 165 crore project 75% or approximately Rs. 125 crore would be funded by the Central Government. The remaining investment is to be made by the training partners or employers.
The Government has identified National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Hyderabad, NABARD Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd. (NBACONS), Mumbai, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), or the concerned District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) as fund routing, coordinating and monitoring agencies on behalf of the Ministry of Rural Development.
