In an interview to DD news he said that government was committed to provide affordable, sustainable and clean electricity to the common man.

He reiterated that the revised target of electrifying every village in the country by 2012 is on the track.

Mr. Shinde also expressed the hope that the coal blocks allocated to NTPC which were recently cancelled will be re-allocated to the corporation soon. He said, the matter has been brought to the notice of the Prime Minister and he has formed a GoM under the Chairmanship of Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee. The Minister said the matter is under consideration and a decision on reallocating the coal blocks will be taken soon.
