This emerged Tuesday after talks between government and the opposition Parties to break the stalemate in Parliament ahead of the Budget Session. But the meeting remained inconclusive.
Sources said that though opposition leaders are united for the JPC probe but both the sides are keen to run the Parliament should function. Speaking to reporters after the meeting convened by the Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee, leader of the opposition Sushma Swaraj said government will take a decision first , approve formation of a JPC and Parliament will function properly.
She, however, said that a formal proposal from the government is yet to come. She also expressed her inability to understand as to why the government had still not agreed to issue a JPC probe into the 2-G spectrum scam.
Opposition leaders said there will be another all-party meeting on the eve of the Session beginning the 21st of this month.
Congress spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed said people who believes in democracy would like Parliament to function but a party should not be adamant while finding solutions to problems.
CPI-M Parliamentary Party leader Sitaram Yechury said two things emerged from the meeting. One is that the House should function and the JPC should be formed. Government will have to work out a proposal. Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said that it was a very good discussion.
