Flood furry continues in Bihar with rivers Budhi Gandak, Ghaghra, Bagmati and Ganga are in spate. The right embankment of Burhi Gandak has breached in Samastipur district engulfing fresh areas.

Surging water of Budhi Gandak has also reached in town areas of Muzaffarpur. Over one Crore 30 lakh people have been affected by floods. 253 people have so far died in flood related incidents. Over one hundred fifty animals have also been killed.

The worst affected districts are Araria,Katihar,West Champaran and Sitamarhi from where maximum number of casualutes have been reported. About seven Lakh people have been shifted to safer places. 4 Lakh 30 thousand people are taking shelter in relief camps.

Standing crops spread over 7 lakh hectares have been destroyed.Over 20 thousand huts were washed away in the current floods.Relief and rescue operations are in full swing.

The state government is running 2570 community kitchens,which feed around five lakh affected people daily.Those who could not be evacuated were receiving relief materials including dry ration through air dropping.
