The last day to file nominations is April 24th. Scrutiny of the nominations will be held next day and the last day to withdraw the nomination is April 27. BJP has announced the names of 154 candidates and Congress has declared the names of 218 Candidates while JD(S) has already announced its 126 candidates for the forthcoming assembly election.

The election will be held for 224 Assembly constituencies and counting will be done on May 15th.
After notification by the Election Commission, parties are issuing B forms to their candidates. The filing of nominations may start from tomorrow.

The interesting contest is seen in Varuna assembly constituency where BJP Chief Minister candidate Yeddyurappa’s son Vijendra is likely to be pitted against present Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yathindra from Congress. BJP is yet to announce their candidate from Varuna.

Siddaramaiah who was elected MLA twice from Varuna has moved to Chamundeshwari, where he is running against GT Deve Gowda of the JD(S) who won the last election from here. The CM has already won from Chamundeshwari five times earlier.
