Union home minister Rajnath Singh today said that education was the only tool which can resolve all troubles including terrorism, Maoism, insurgency in the country.

“Education can also eliminate the radicalisation of the youths”, Singh that at a seminar “Talim Ki Taqat’, or the ‘power of education’, organised by Chancellor of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Zafar Sareshwala in Lucknow today.

Home minister said that value based education which was embedded in deep moral values and rich traditions of our society can fight all forms of vices.

Hailing the concern of the parents of Muslim youths who wanted to join ISIS, he said that some of those parents personally met him and urged to help in the matter. He said that such approach of the elders show that they are deeply connected not only with the well being of their children but also of the motherland.

“Today, IS is being talked across the globe. But India is the lone country in the world where it has not been able to establish its roots due to family values of the Indian culture,” he said.

Emphasising the importance of the education, he said that it is the only path through which lagged behind pockets of the people and minorities can uplift their social and economical status in the society.

On this occasion Vice Chancellor of Mumbai University Sanjay Deshmukh said that despite our 74% overall literacy, our women are only 65 % literate and no development can be brought in the society without educating women. Addressing the gathering JS Rajput, ex chairman of UGC said that with around 55% population of under twenty five years’ old youth, India can reap the rich dividends of demography which is possible with skilful education.

While another speaker, a vice chancellor of a private university of Meghalay, Maqbool Haq said that Muslims should come out of sulking mode and should go for purposeful education in a big way which is also the paramount and the fundamental teaching of Islam. The program was organised to enthuse interest among people especially the minorities towards the importance of education.
