Citing the State’s special citizenship provisions and the ongoing citizenship verification process under the supervision of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to conduct a Special Revision (SR) instead of a Special Intensive Revision in Assam.
Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered a Special Revision of the electoral roll in Assam, with January 1, 2026 as the qualifying date. The revision exercise will begin on 18 November
As per the schedule, house-to-house verification by Booth Level Officers will commence on 22 November 2025, during which BLOs will visit electors with a pre-filled BLO register for verification and correction of details. The revision will also include photo improvement of electors and rationalization of polling stations.
The draft electoral roll will be published on 27 December 2025, followed by a period for claims and objections from 27 December 2025 to 22 January 2026. The final electoral roll will be released on 10 February 2026.
