Sindh government’s criminal negligence has turned the ongoing dengue outbreak into a nationwide health emergency, with 16 people reported dead in Hyderabad. According to media reports, social activists have urged the Sindh government to declare an immediate health emergency, establish a dedicated dengue task force, and provide free testing facilities in public and private hospitals. They accused the Sindh Health Department, district administration, and municipal authorities of gross negligence, claiming thousands have been infected and hundreds remain hospitalised. Activists also alleged that officials are concealing the true scale of the outbreak, saying dengue has turned deadlier than Covid-19. They cited severe medicine shortages, a lack of hospital infrastructure, and soaring prices of essential supplies, which have doubled in recent weeks.
