ALLAHABAD HCAllahabad High Court stayed the appointment of constables in Uttar Pradesh and asked the government not to issue appointment letters for the post till the next order. Justice P.K.S.Baghel ordered for staying the issuance of appointment letters for 41 thousand and 610 posts of constables.

The court passed stay order while hearing a petition filed by two applicants Ravi Kumar and Brijesh Tiwari. Petitioners also claimed that many candidates from women category, freedom fighter quota and ex -army categories accommodated against general category violating reservation norms.

While issuing the order high court single judge bench observed that the horizontal reservation norms was violated by police requirement board.

Rejecting earlier reply of government the high court has sought fresh affidavit from state government on reservation provided in police constables recruitment case. The result for more than 41 thousand police constables was announced in july and section of applicants blamed on board for irregularities.

Petitioners also claimed that many candidates who got benefits of horizontal reservation were accommodated in general category thereby reducing 3800 seats of general category. While hearing petition the single judge bench justice P K S Baghel ordered the police recruitment Board and Uttar Pradesh government to file a fresh reply .The next hearing will take place on 11th September.
