Jharkhand government has approved the formation of Anti-Terror Squad, ATS, in the state. State Cabinet has sanctioned 283 posts of various category for the purpose. The ATS would be headed by a Superintendent of Police level officer and will have six DSP and 11 Inspectors in it.

The need for an ATS was felt since long as many terror activities in the country, including the Patna and Bodh Gaya serial blasts, have seen their roots in Jharkhand.

The Raghuwar Das Cabinet has also decided to allocate lands for Reserve Bank of India, IIIT and CBI in the HEC area of Ranchi.
