multimedia private firm for cheating Air India Ltd. to the tune of around Rs. 1.4 crore for supply of short video programmes to the air crafts operated by Air India Ltd.
Air India Ltd had appointed Mumbai-based Multimedia Pvt. Ltd. firm to supply short Video Programmes for screening in its flights. It was alleged that the firm fraudulently charged Air India for the duration much more than the actual duration of the programmes supplied for Air India flights. Moreover, the firm charged Air India Ltd for the programmes which were already billed previously. The then General Manager, In Flight Service Department, Air India Ltd, fraudulently approved the bills raised by the firm without verifying them, in connivance with officials of firm. Searches were conducted at 6 places including 3 offices of the firm at Mumbai and 3 residential premises of the then GM, Air India Ltd. at Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and New Delhi.
It was found that the then GM Air India Ltd. & his family members were having certain bank accounts and 3 lockers in Mumbai, New Delhi and Chandigarh. He has recently purchased a flat in posh area of South Delhi. Incriminating documents recovered during searches are being scrutinized.Further investigation is in progress, a spokesman said.
