Center has sought a report from UP government over Saharanpur violence incidents. Official sources said the Home Ministry has asked the state government to send details of the incidents which occurred between two groups leading to death of a person and injuries to several others.
Yesterday, Uttar Pradesh government had suspended the Senior Superintendent of Police and District Magistrate of Saharanpur in view of the continued violence in the district.
In Uttar Pradesh, Saharanpur district administration has expressed confidence that normalcy will return in violence-hit areas within next 24 hours.
Talking to media persons at Saharanpur this evening, Home Secretary Mani Prasad Misra and ADG Law and Order Aditya Misra said that strict actions will be taken against culprits of violence and arson and innocent people will not be touched.
They said that outsiders were involved in the incidents of violence in the districts and investigation is underway to ascertain their identity.
Meanwhile newly appointed District Magistrate Pramod Kumar Pandey and SSP Babloo Kumar and teams of four senior administrative and police officers today visited the violence hit Sabbirpur village and met the villagers.
Later, a meeting of all groups was also held in the village. After visiting the village, District Magistrate Mr Pandey has said that a conspiracy was hatched to disturb the peace and law and order in the district by the miscreants and all of them will be identified in due course of investigation.
The administration has banned the use of social media in the district to check the spreading of rumours.
The cast violence in the district has left killing of three youths and leaving several others injured. About 60 persons have been arrested till now for their alleged involvement in the incidents of violence.
