The Election Commission is hearing arguments of both factions of the Samajwadi Party on their claim over party’s Cycle symbol. Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav along with Shivpal Singh Yadav and Ramgopal Yadav and Naresh Agrawal of UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s group are attending the hearing with their legal counsels.
Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal is present from Akhilesh Yadav’s side while advocate Mohan Parasaran and others are with Mulayam Singh Yadav’s group. The Commission wants to settle the matter before 17th of this month when the process of nomination will begin for the first phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh.
