Recovery of four high-intensity improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the Mahabodhi Temple in Bodh Gaya on Friday evening evoked sharp reaction in Ladakh.

Ladakh observed a peaceful bandh from dawn to dusk to condemn the bomb blast near Kalchakara ground in Bodhgaya. Huge number of pilgrims and devotees from all over the world were present to attend the discourse of Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama there. The Bandh was called jointly by the Ladakh Buddhist Association and All Ladakh Gonpa Association.

Political parties and all other social organisations in the region have supported the bandh call to condamn it. All the business establishments in Leh town have kept their shutters down for wholeday.

Due to bandh , normal life in the region was also remained affected.President of Ladakh Buddhist Association mr Rinchen Namgyal said they had called peaceful Ladakh bandh to protest it peacefully and a prayer for long life of Daila Lama was also conducted at Chowkhang temple in Leh town.

Four bombs were recovered near Mahabodhi temple in Bodhgaya on Friday evening. Gaya SP, Garima Malik said, police are trying to diffuse the bombs.

She said, a high alert has been issued and security has been intensified. Spiritual leader Dalai Lalma is in Bodhgaya for a special prayer.

A large number of Buddhist monks and devotees from across the world are currently gathered in Bodh Gaya to attend Dalai Lama’s sermon sessions, which will continue till February 2.

Intelligence agencies had strong inputs that some terror outfits like LeT, Jaish-eMohammad, al-Qaida and ISIS might have radicalised some Rohingyas living in India and were planning to use them to target Buddhist sites

Teams from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and National Security Guard (NSG) reached Bodh Gaya on Saturday to assist Bihar Police’s probe into the incident.

Sources said security personnel from NIA, NSG and state police are working on what is said to be “a solid lead” provided by the CCTV footage of the area where the blast took place. The officials refused to divulge more details. Gaya SSP Garima Malik said, “Revealing anything about the progress of the investigation will be counterproductive.” She denied any detention or arrest.
