A boat carrying around 150 passengers capsized in Kolohi River in Kamrup district of assam today. Kamrup Deputy Commissioner Binod Sesan said that the incident occurred at Goroimari when the boat hit a bridge. He said that 20 to 30 persons are reportedly missing and rescue operations are being carried out by the NDRF and SDRF personnel. He however said that no body has been recovered as of now.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the remaining passengers are believed to have swum to safely. But there was no exact number of passengers who swam to safely. The ill fated boat was travelling to Gumi from Tampukur when the incident occurred .
