BJP has demanded resignation of Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat alleging his involvement in the alleged multi-crore rupees liquor scam. Releasing a sting video in New Delhi this evening, senior party leader Nirmala Sitharaman said, the video shows the Chief Minister’s personal secretary Mohammed Shahid negotiating bribes for making changes to the state’s policy on the sale of alcohol. The Minister said, the distribution of liquor in the state was removed from government agency Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam and through the pick and choose policy of the Chief Minister and his Principal Secretary, it was passed on to private agencies. She alleged that there was an understanding of several hundred of crores of rupees for this.

Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations, Congress said a time bound investigation has already been ordered in the alleged multi-crore liquor scam in Uttarakhand. Talking to reporters in New Delhi, party spokesperson Gaurav Gogoi said, the party has taken the allegations in the matter seriously. Mr Gogoi said, Chief Minister’s personal secretary Mohammed Shahid has already been suspended from the post.
