He told the magistrate that he was not ready to sign the bond and was ready to go to jail.
Hazare’s supporters Manish Sisodia, Arvind Kejriwal, Darshak, Radheshyam, Suresh Pathare, Naveen Jaisingh and Dada Phatare have also been sent to judicial custody.
Hazare was arrested under Section 107/51 and appeared before a magistrate to get bail. Hazare and his supporters were taken into custody before he was to proceed to the venue of his fast in JP Park where prohibitory orders are in place.
Delhi Police on Tuesday morning detained Anna Hazare. He has been arrested following reports of law and order problem in the city. Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat told media that Anna Hazare and his close associates were detained around 8 in the morning.
Anna Hazare was taken into custody from a residential area in Mayur Vihar before he was to proceed to the venue of his fast in J P Park where prohibitory orders are in place. Earlier, some senior police officials met Hazare in a bid to convince him not to undertake his fast.
The Delhi police rejected the undertaking given by Team Anna as it refused to accept some of the key conditions set by police.
The police move to reject the application came soon after the Hazare team submitted an undertaking leaving six out of the 22 conditions laid out by Delhi Police for granting permission for the fast at the park.
Delhi Police spokesperson Rajan Bhagat said that the affidavit submitted by Hazare team was incomplete as they did not restrict themselves to the time limit of three days and the number of protestors to 5,000.
The other condition rejected by Anna team include check on Hazare health by government doctors, ban on use of loudspeakers after 9 pm, limiting the number of vehicles to 50 cars and 50 motorcycles in parking and that no tent be erected.
