ALIGARH: The Aligarh Muslim University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for educational and research collaboration with Al-Mostafa International University, Qom, Iran.

In presence of the AMU Vice Chancellor, Lt. Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, this MoU was signed by the AMU Registrar, Prof. Asfar Ali Khan and Hujjatul Islam Mohammad Raza Saleh, Chief Representative, Al-Mostafa International University, Qom, Iran.

Both the institutions agreed together, on the basis of mutual desire for promotion of education and research and mutual cooperation in the field of Theology and Islamic Studies that they will try to collaborate, subject to mutual consent on joint research ventures. It was also decided that teachers of Al-Mostafa International University and Department of Shia Theology, AMU may collaborate in research and publications as approved by the authorities of both the universities along with the exchange of books, audio-visual material, films, CDs etc as available from time to time.

Both the universities will undertake schemes for exchange of teachers for short duration courses, as per the rules, norms and guidelines of AMU and UGC and vice versa.

It was also decided that five graduates of Shia Theology, AMU will be given admission in higher Islamic courses in Al-Mostafa International University every year and the Department of Shia Theology, AMU will provide admission to students who have BA or MA degree from Al-Mostafa International University subject to their qualifying the admission test.

It has also been decided that both the universities will organize joint seminars and conference as approved by the authorities of two universities.

On this occasion, Prof. Ali Mohd. Naqvi, Dean, Faculty of Theology was also present.
