AMU Yoga

The Department of Physical Education, Aligarh Muslim University AMU, has started a seven-day ‘Workshop on Yoga’. The Workshop, is a part of ‘International Yoga Day’ celebrations.

Around hundred participants from different schools, colleges and departments of AMU participated in the Inaugural ceremony of the workshop.

Chief Guest of the function, Professor Mohammad Gulrez, Chairman, Department of West Asian Studies, highlighted the need for alternative health modalities especially yoga, in the present stressful lifestyle.

The Guest of Honour, Dr Ali Jafar Abdi, University Health Officer, expressed his views regarding health benefits of yoga.

During the inaugural ceremony, Professor Brij Bhushan Singh, Chairman, Department of Education delivered the welcome note and the Deputy co-ordinator, Professor Zamirullah Khan enlightened the participants about the theme of the workshop.

Meanwhile other guests and the Deputy Co-ordinator also expressed their views on enlightening topics like Yoga and Wellness, contribution of Yoga for healthy living, contribution of Yoga for nation building and need of Yoga in present time.

On this occasion, the faculty members of the Department of Physical Education, Dr Syed Khurram Nisar, Dr Arshad Bari, Dr Fuzail Ahmad, and Mr Taufiq Ahmad, also participated enthusiastically. Mrs Afshan, Mrs Afshan Obaid, Mrs Nasreen Bano, Dr Imran, Mr Razi Rizvi, Mr Musharraf, Mr Bari, and Mr Ashraf along with teachers of senior secondary schools and students also participated in the workshop.

Dr Naushad Waheed Ansari proposed the vote of thanks, The event was conducted by Dr Merajuddin Faridi.
