Gujarat government today announced salary hike of its fixed pay employees as per the Minimum Wages recommended by 7th pay commission. The decision was taken in the cabinet meeting today.

Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said the government has also decided to consider the continuous service of fix pay employees from the date of their appointment. He said with this, the fixed pay employees will be entitled for promotions and allowances.

The decision will be implemented from the 1st February and will benefit over 1 lakh 18 thousand employees working in different cadres at fix pay.

Mr Patel said that with the move, salaries of employees of different cadres will increase by around 63 and 120 percent. He said the decision will put Rs 1.372 crore additional burden on the state exchequer.

The Gujarat government has been following the policy of appointing youths on fixed wages for five years from the year 2006.
