A suspected suicide bomber killed at least eight people in a high security area of the capital, Damascus. The bombing occurred near a government-run sport club in Kafarsuseh west of Damascus. The state TV sana reported the explosion occured when a suicide bomber detonated his explosive belt near the club.
In another incident, Syrian State TV SANA reported that a series of explosions ripped through Mezzeh military airport on the western outskirts of Damascus. Syria has accused Israel of being behind the attack.
The Syrian army command spokesman has warned that there will be repercussions for Israel for the flagrant attack on the military base. It said several missiles were fired at the airport’s compounds from the Lake Tiberias area in northern Israel.
