The government has banned Islamic Research Foundation,an NGO run by Islamic Preacher Zakir Naik, from receiving foreign funds directly.Sources said, Home Ministry today issued a gazette notification in this regard. The Home Ministry found the NGO violating certain provisions of Foreign Contribution Regulations Act .
It said, the NGO would seek prior permission from central government before accepting any foreign contribution. The Ministry has also asked the Reserve Bank of India to inform it about all funds coming to the NGO and take permission before releasing the funds to the foundation.
