Turkey Government says it had removed 8,000 Security personnel from duty suspecting of having links to those behind a failed coup in July. According to the official gazette, 7,669 police and 323 Gendarmerie were removed from duty. Gendarmerie is a military component with jurisdiction in civil law enforcement.
The Government said retired judges and prosecutors would be allowed to return to work if they applied to do so in the next two months. About 3,300 judiciary officials were dismissed in Turkey since the July 15 putsch.
