Turkey has suffered first loss of life in an intensifying campaign at Jarabulus in northern Syria. The military says a soldier was killed yesterday when Kurdish fighters fired on tanks and three tanks were destroyed.
Three other soldiers were injured in the clash with Kurdish fighters. Yesterday saw clashes between Turkish tanks and Kurdish forces near Jarablus, a border town Turkey helped Syrian rebels recapture from the IS on Wednesday.
Turkish armour crossed the border earlier this week in an operation aimed at
Islamic State terrorists as well as Kurdish forces in the area. In another incident, at least 15 people were reportedly killed in a barrel bomb attack in Aleppo.
